The Passion That Sings and Binds

The indomitable human spirit is tested and finds love every time, in every sense of the word.

It's good to be back!

Welcome back to our usual rhythm, dearest readers. I hope a week of absence wasn't toooooo heartbreaking! I'll start as promised with an answer to a question that a reader put in:

questionReader

an awesome question!

Yo! I'm actually so happy you've asked me this, whoever you are! In any case, I'll answer as best I can. From my experience, lyrics are deeply personal, but this of course depends on where your writing comes from, if that makes any sense! I, for example, write out of passionate emotions. Whether it's love, sadness, grief, or something else, my songwriting is typically motivated by strong surges of emotion! That's what gives them their story!

That's why if you look at my "Song a Day" series I did last year, you'll notice that most of the songs are about a particular set of situations of the time. They stirred up intense feelings for me in many ways, some positive others negative, and writing about them was my means of expression. From that lens, they come pretty naturally, and most times very immediately. Most of my songs I write in minutes!

That being said, it takes practice. If it's any motivation to you, I'd like to share something I journaled a long time ago when I was first breaking out of my writing shell:

writing about writing

this is my frustration from years ago, pre first album!

I, of course, can only speak to my experience which is limited by what I write (mostly realistic songs about my emotions and experience with the world). I write often like I'm talking to an old friend. That might not be your jig, though! In any case, the best general advice I can offer is to keep doing the thing! You will find what speaks to you. I promise you won't like it all. I promise promise PROMISE you won't like it all.

For every song I've written that I love, there are so many ideas I didn't like or forgot about. Best in your writing endeavors, please feel free to share once you've written through that same Google Form if you're comfortable once it's out there somewhere (if you intend to do such, of course)! :D

On the note of music:

I'd like to also talk about my release schedule for the near future! This is exciting because I promised you music, and this I shall deliver! Here is a *tentative* schedule of what you can expect in the near future:

release schedule

coming soonnnnnn!

These are gonna be recorded demo-style by yours truly! I talked previously of making music a bit more personal even if it's a cost of polish, and I'm trying that philosophy on for size. Get excited for some fun stuff ahead, old friends and new :)

Uploading music on a Monday to be release Friday can be fucky (see: table for one), but we shall see! If "Beautiful Girl" isn't on your new music Friday, expect it shortly after. :)

You can hear "Sorry To You," the first track of my next EP, early here!

It's wonderful to hear from people!

Continue to reach out and I'll respond! I don't bite! It's a great day that's setting up to be a great week, dearest readers. Have a wonderful rest of your Monday, I'll see you again here next week!
